Currently, we are only accepting agented manuscripts.
We pay competitive advances and standard royalties. All of our books are available in print and e-format, and promoted using a combination of traditional and social media approaches.
Please note that we do not accept partial or unedited manuscripts.
You can find us at www.FigTreeBooks.net, and you can also follow us on Twitter at @FigTreeBks or like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FigTreeBks.
Manuscripts that contain no AJE content will be automatically rejected. So how do we define the AJE?
We typically describe 'American' as dealing with the people or institutions of the United States; this does not mean that the protagonist must be a citizen or that the action must take place exclusively within our country. But the book needs to be grounded in American values, culture or history and American readers need to be able to identify with the characters and the story.
For us, the 'Jewish experience' means engaging with what it means to be a Jewish American, or how one goes about his or her life practicing (or denying) his/her Judaism, or how one copes with Jewish identity, or deals with social/political/cultural issues associated with being Jewish or interactions between/among Jews and other groups.
The submission should be in both a PDF document and Word document that use a common 12 point font (such as Times, Times New Roman, Helvetica, Calibri, Cambria, Verdana, etc.) and they should be double line formatted as well as paginated.
The file name for the submission documents should be in the form of Title of Book by Name of Author.
Include a title page and a table of contents page if applicable.
Include a brief, jacket copy length summary of the book, a short bio and anything else that you believe will be valuable in your cover letter such as a website dedicated to the book or author.
If you would like to include additional materials such as a full length synopsis, detailed bio or publication history, please attach additional files, using the exact same name as the file that contains the manuscript with the appropriate additional word as the last word in the name of the file (e.g., Title of Book by Name of Author Summary.docx).
Please allow sufficient time for us to get back to you.
